Perched on the shady, tree-lined banks of the Canal Saint-Martin, this trendy little café offers “home cooking made only with quality products”, and a charming spot for no-nonsense, al-fresco lunches inspired by the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Perfect for shooting the breeze on hot summer days — complete with great, friendly service and a cosy ambience.

Boasting a clean, neat and modern décor fit for the pages of a magazine, big, open windows facing onto the cobblestone streets and a few summery chairs and tables placed outside its doors, Nous Valmy is a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving fresh, healthy food, that you’ll miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for — and that would be a shame.

Here — in this trendy-chic sanctuary for boho locals and passers-by, adorned with bamboo suspensions, succulents, a cactus wall and rattan chairs and tables; the staff greet you with smiles, and the food is fresh, seasonal and organic — prepared daily in their back kitchen with care and attention, whether you eat-in or takeaway.

On the staple menu you’ll find a delicious array of signature salad bowls, tasty meals such as chicken satay,, burgers, burritos and robust, open-sandwiches ; as well as snacks like guacamole, quesadillas and avocado on toast with eggs, smoked salmon and crispy veggies  — as well as a good selection of juices, coffees, a few beers and French wines.

The brain child of power couple and young entrepreneurs Paula Pietri and Henri Kerveillant and packed with delectable dishes inspired by their trips around the world — Nous Valmy is one of three locations around Paris — but it’s probably the cutest spot of them all, and the kind of café/restaurant you truly feel at home in.

It’s a place where you can pop-in solo, relax and fill your belly with fresh, pure food and hot or cold drinks and juices that will feed your body and soul without any preservatives or fuss; and it’s also wonderful for meeting friends for a low-key rendez-vous just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle action of the Place de la République around the corner.

Count around 10-15 € for something from their a là carte menu (mix & match any of their salad selections with meat, falafels or veggies) or get the ‘plat & dessert’ or ‘tartine & soupe’ formulas for 19€  or 13.50€ respectively; or go all out with their 28€ brunch — the latter of which offers a selection of clean-eating treats to choose from and good value for money.

So check it out, settle in, enjoy and unwind — this tranquil and unpretentious sanctuary, packed with healthy food and beverages, practically begs you to.

Perfect for: A cool, relaxing pit-stop to fill up, refresh and recharge on healthy fare in beautiful, cosy surroundings and people watch after a good stroll down the Canal Saint-Martin.

What to order: Any one of their signature ‘bowls’ or salads if you’re hungry, or the avocado on toast with smoked salmon and a poached egg for brunch or a light snack. Wash it all down with a fresh-pressed fruit juice, a smoothie or organic and aromatic coffee (hot or cold) — or an icy mojito or glass of rosé with ice-cubes on a balmy evening at sunset.
