Uma Nota Paris

Combining Japanese techniques with fresh Brazilian ingredients, this vibrant restaurant located in a former 19th-century department store, in the neighbourhood of Réaumur offers a colourful mix of São Paulo flavours in bright and fresh setting.

The unique concept is the brainchild Laura and Alexis Offe, French siblings living in Hong Kong, who in 2014 packed their bags, headed for Brazil and fell in love with the gastronomic marriage between Japanese and Brazilian cuisine — culminating in the launch of Uma Nota Hong Kong in 2017.

A year later — in the summer of 2018 — Alexandre Guillet and Nicolas Esclapez opened doors on Uma Nota Paris, a replica based on the success of that first restaurant and just as glorious; boasting two levels of super slick décor embraced by a giant fresco mural, wicker hanging suspensions, graphic furniture and a festive atmosphere that delights all those who dine here.

On the menu are a kaleidoscope of dishes to choose from come raw, skewered or to be shared, with signature plates that include a tangy red snapper, prawn & calamari ceviche with aji amarillo & coriander and coxinhas; deep fried Brazilian dumplings with chicken & okra accompanied by a homemade chili sauce; and cocktails galore (made from cachaça — of sugar cane rum — of course).

Their classic/not so classic ‘Brunch da Rua’ is also a tasting treat, allowing experimental foodies to try a variety of exotic fare which swings from ‘Praia tiradito’ (White fish carpaccio with coconut milk, orange juice, coriander and mint), to ‘Berinjela’ (Eggplant with miso, goat cheese and cashew nuts), all balanced perfectly without skipping a beat — to the melody of an electric playlist that alternates heavy RnB sounds with Latino music.

Perfect for: A delicious, colourful and exciting foodie escape from classic French cuisine and drab Paris weather in the winter (or anytime you need a change!)

What to order: Arrive hungry and with an open mind, and go for the ‘Brunch da Rua’ or the Chef’s Menu for 40€ pp, and try a bit of everything! Wash it down with a few caipirinhas in any of the flamboyant mixes on offer. When in Brazil..
