This pretty little tea room located at rue Saint-Dominique, in an upscale neighborhood of Paris near the Invalides has made its name by elevating one ingredient above all the rest – and doing it right. Yep, you guessed it – sweet, delicious, sticky – caramel.

Chef of Karamel Nicolas Haelewyn opened his pastry shop after 10 years experience at Ladurée including the last five years as International Pastry Chef and is a maestro at managing to keep the core of his creations pure to the name of his shop, while still keeping each and every bite diverse and delicious.

The choice of caramel as a major ingredient in every creation is not at all random either. Nicolas’ home region is Normandy, France - the home of famous French salted caramel. Passionate since a young age about all things caramel, all his variations pay homage to chef’s childhood memories, with many heritage recipes coming straight from his grandmother, keeping it all authentic and super tasty.

In other great news, Karamel also have a delivery service, so you can now enjoy the shop’s delicious creations at home, without leaving the couch. Also a wonderful solution for home party treats.

Perfect for: A little after-work treat.

What to order: The caramelized pear – stuffed chocolate ganache and placed on a small chocolate tart. Yum.
