Throughout my career working as a journalist and editor for various publications, I’ve had countless interviews and discussions with CEOs, marketing & communications managers, fellow editors, entrepreneurs and agencies – and I began to notice a similar thread throughout these candid conversations.
Many of these forward-thinking companies, agencies and brands – navigating the dynamics of a changing market in more ways than one – were increasingly on the hunt for consummate professionals in the communications and creative industries with whom they could connect and whose services they could ‘mix-and-match’ for various short or long-term projects, one-off or otherwise.
Sensing this shift in the market – and having mulled over creating my own business for a few years – I decided 2016 was the year to start catering to this demand full-time, by combining my experience in the industry with a trusted freelance service network, supported by the brilliant circle of creative professionals I’ve forged solid business relationships with during my career to date.
En route – somewhere between Paris, Mexico and two (fairly ambitious) world trips that never really got off the ground – I met photographer and agent extraordinaire Rhodri Jones. We got to talking about INK, escaping the perpetual rat race, and other assorted goals, and – in a fortuitous twist of fate – it turned out he had the web skills and tech perseverance to bring my imagined concept of INK to life as you see it now. He's also a design wiz with creative mojo in spades, and really knows his way around a camera, so was basically the missing piece of the puzzle that clicked and hence, fellow co-founder.
The rest is history – and the future is our blank canvas.
